HUNTSVILLE, Ala., September 22, 2011 — Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced that Jack Waters, president of Global Network Services and chief technology officer of Level 3 Communications, will deliver a keynote presentation at the eighth annual AstriCon Open Source Telephony Conference and Exhibition 2011, the longest running conference devoted to the Asterisk communications platform. Waters' keynote, scheduled for Thursday, October 27 at 9 a.m. MT, will focus on the rise of media-enabled public networks and the impact this growth has on network bandwidth. This year's event will be held October 25-27, 2011, in Denver, Colo., bringing together the world's open source enthusiasts-from code developers and Asterisk integrators to service providers and enterprise IT professionals-who share an interest in Asterisk, the world's most widely used open source telephony software.
Waters has extensive background in network architecture, design and implementation. In his current role, Waters is responsible for service activation and management, planning and deployment, access management and field operations across the company. Level 3 Communications achieved numerous milestones in IP communications under Waters' visionary leadership, including multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) and advanced optical networking.
