HUNTSVILLE, Ala., January 3, 2011 — Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced that Switchvox, the company's turnkey voice over IP (VoIP) unified communications (UC) solution designed for small- to mid-sized businesses, grew more than 30 percent in 2010, making it the company's fastest growing solution. Switchvox, which is based on Asterisk, the world's most popular open source telephony engine, provides enterprise-class features at a price businesses can afford. New features included integrated iPhone and BlackBerry mobile applications.
The popularity of Digium and Switchvox with analysts and industry organizations showed continued growth in 2010. Digium was included in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony*. Additionally, Digium was selected for several awards, most notably Switchvox received Everything Channel's Top MidMarket Value Product Award at the Midsize Enterprise Summit.
At the beginning of 2010, Digium released enhancements to Switchvox, bringing many of the benefits of Switchvox from the existing web interface to the handset. For the first time, users were able to access call recording, visual voicemail, a searchable company directory and call parking lots, right from the phone handset. The Switchvox 4.5 capabilities provided language support and GUI localization for UK English, Italian, Castilian Spanish, and Latin American Spanish.
Later in the year, Digium extended key functionality to smartphones with its free Switchvox Mobile applications that seamlessly integrate the Switchvox phone system with the iPhone and BlackBerry smartphones. Along with these significant new features and business benefits, customer productivity gains and cost savings contributed to Switchvox's continued growth.
Digium enhanced administration with the release of Switchvox 4.6, which introduced features for customers to better manage and protect their investments. New features introduced stricter password protection policies, simplified access for tech support to connect, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, flexibility for scheduling and applying updates and improved backup options.
"We're very pleased, at the current rate of growth we're experiencing on our Switchvox business," said Leslie Conway, vice president of global marketing at Digium. "We understand that businesses have to be smart with their expenditures and select phone systems that deliver the most value. It is critical that their system not only serves their needs today, but also provides the flexibility to grow with them tomorrow. Switchvox does this and more."
In May of 2010, Digium, a CRN five-star Channel partner program winner, improved its program once again, with the introduction of the Switchvox Certification Program for Digium Channel Partners. This program equips technical and sales professionals with online training to provide the knowledge to design, implement, and support telephony solutions based on Switchvox. Channel partners who complete the program are distinguished as Certified Switchvox Partners. More than 1,000 Select, Registered, Affiliate, and Distributors members have completed either the technical or the sales Switchvox training since the program's inception. Notably, Digium's partner program also tripled in size in 2010 and now includes over 1000 partnering companies world-wide.
