Digium Reports Significant Growth for Switchvox Unified Communications Solution in 2011

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., December 22, 2011Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced that Switchvox® experienced 40 percent growth in 2011, the result of continued global adoption of its Unified Communications (UC) solutions. Switchvox is Digium’s Voice over IP (VoIP) phone system designed for small- to mid-sized businesses (SMBs) that allows companies to connect and collaborate through integrated calling, mobility, instant messaging and conferencing, all at an affordable price.

Compared to other business phone systems, Digium delivers the best return on investment (ROI) in the industry. Customers who purchase Switchvox often save up to 60 percent or more on their initial investment and as much as 80 percent on the total cost of ownership over five years, compared to the competition. The results indicate that Switchvox provides all the functionality and features of an enterprise class IP PBX platform at a fraction of the cost. Frost & Sullivan recognized Digium as the best value in UC phones systems with the 2011 Customer Value Enhancement Award for UC in North America.

“We’re seeing tremendous traction in the small and medium business market because we’re providing our customers with the absolute best value in business phone systems,” said Leslie Conway, vice president of global marketing at Digium. “Switchvox solutions allow these organizations to work where and how they want to work by incorporating support for mobile and remote workers. Our customers can do so much more with their phone system – they can integrate third-party business applications, easily collaborate and ultimately manage their businesses much more efficiently.”

In 2011, Digium issued a major update to its Switchvox product that included several enhancements, allowing for increased workforce mobility. Switchvox 5.0 provides Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC), enabling users to seamlessly integrate any type of external phone with Switchvox. With FMC, users can route, record or transfer calls from anywhere while appearing to be at their office location. Digium also introduced the Switchvox Mobile application for Android devices, adding to the existing mobile support for iPhone and Blackberry devices. The mobile apps are fully integrated into a user’s Switchvox phone system, allowing users to make outbound calls from their Switchvox extension and access other key user features directly from these mobile platforms at no extra cost. Digium also added improved reporting and management features and broadened API capabilities that give Switchvox administrators more flexibility to integrate and customize applications with Switchvox. All of these features are available to Switchvox customers with current subscriptions at no additional cost or licensing.

Additionally, 2011 was an exciting year for Digium’s channel program. To better serve the growing SMB market with Switchvox, Digium almost doubled its number of worldwide channel partners. The company expanded its online training and certification and added inside sales and field support teams. This commitment to the channel once again resulted in Digium's partner program receiving CRN’s prestigious Five Star Partner Program award.

In addition to its partner program recognitions, Digium was included by Gartner, Inc. in the Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony* as well as Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications report.** The Switchvox solution was awarded CRN Magazine’s Enterprise App Award, Frost & Sullivan’s Customer Value Enhancement award for UC in North America, Internet Telephony’s Unified Communications Excellence award, TMC Labs Innovation award and Internet Telephony Excellence award. Leslie Conway, vice president of global marketing, was named to CRN’s Power 100: The Most Powerful Women of the Channel for 2011 and Steve Harvey, vice president of worldwide sales, was recognized by CRN as a Channel Chief.
