The 14th annual edition of the Asterisk Open Source Conference and Exhibition will feature 55 sessions with content designed for Asterisk novices and experts alike. This year’s AstriCon will be held October 3 – 5, 2017, at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. AstriCon 2017 contains multiple content tracks offering attendees a variety of options. During the three-day event topics will include security, Asterisk-based distributions, Asterisk tutorials, Asterisk case studies, speech technology, how to build scalable and resilient solutions, and IoT. Notable highlights include:

  • Session: Dan Jenkins, founder of Nimble Ape Ltd presents Communications: WebRTC Strikes Back, providing an update about where WebRTC stands today, what’s available when it comes to this technology and what the future may hold.
  • Panel: All-Star Panel Challenges of Running an Open Source Project featuring Matt Fredrickson (Digium, Inc.), Bogdan Iancu (OpenSIPS Project),  Lorenzo Mangani (QXIP), Daniel-Constantin Mierla (Kamailio SIP Server) Anthony Minessale (FreeSWITCH) and moderator David Duffett (Digium, Inc.) will highlight the issues, learnings of leading open source communications projects, followed by a question and answer session.
  • Workshops: Asterisk from Scratch for ‘newbies’ led by Chris Howard and Asterisk as a Virtual Network Function for experienced Asterisk users, led by Leif Madsen (Red Hat, Inc.) and Doug Smith (Red Hat, Inc.).  These are both full-day workshops that allow participants to immerse themselves in a powerful learning environment with attendees of similar interests and technology acumen.
