Here are our top three service ideas for new ITSPs:
Hosted PBX
Public Branch eXchange (PBX) is the telephony switchboard hardware. When a phone call is made to a customer who has a hosted PBX service, that telephone call goes to their business location, is processed through their hardware and then it’s sent to your phone extensions. The Hosted PBX technology lets businesses have a sophisticated phone system without having to invest in telephone equipment. The whole system is maintained and operated by your VoIP provider and it can work with landline or mobile phones, too. There are many benefits and features for your customers. Aside from what we already mentioned with its compatibility with landline and mobile phones and needing no fancy office telephone system, it can also work with your existing telephone service if you choose. There are ongoing savings as it’s cost-effective, credible, has easy setup and use, and your employees can work remotely as it’s virtual
SIP Trunks
First, SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol. The SIP technology establishes a voice communication session on a data network. One of these sessions, for example, would be a VoIP phone call between two people or a conference call. A SIP Trunk is not a physical wire, but a virtual phone line using your data circuit to connect from your phone system to their network.
SIP Trunks come with many benefits, too. The main one is the price; it can cost a lot less than regular phone service. There are no physical phone lines to be maintained, which also helps keeps your costs low. Long distance typically costs less as well. You can also use Caller ID and DID services with SIP Trunks, too.
Unified Communications
Unified Communications (UC) sounds just like what it is—it is a combination of technologies such as your desk phone, cell phone, email, Web conferencing, and instant messaging that unify to allow you to better communicate and facilitate working with customers, partners, and coworkers. Coined by consultant Art Rosenberg around 2000, it describes technology that enabled messages and data to be routed to reach recipients as fast as possible.
This last service idea has great features and benefits as well. One telephone number can be assigned and calls can follow the individual or go between devices without having to be disconnected and reconnected. UC also has voicemail-to-email which allows voice messages to reach individuals when they’re away from the office by sending an audio file to that person’s email address. It can be heard without dialing into the voicemail and also easily forwarded. Other benefits include click-to-dial and calls being able to be redirected if there are network issues or a power outage.
